Walid Ali-Ahmad

VP of RF Systems Architecture, Samsung Electronics

Walid Ali-Ahmad is currently Vice President of RF Systems Architecture at Samsung Electronics with focus on 5G NR platform solution development for cellular User Equipment. He previously worked as RF/Analog Systems Engineering Lead at Facebook (2018-2019), and as VP of Technology in QCT at QUALCOMM Inc (2014-2017) with focus on architecture and RF systems design of advanced RF Front-Ends and transceiver systems. He also worked at UC San Diego where he was an adjunct professor (2016-18), and at MediaTek Inc. in Singapore where he was Senior Director of Technology (2010-2014) and led RF systems design of low-cost cellular integrated transceivers. He also was a principal member of Technical staff at Maxim Integrated products (1997-2004), and led the systems development of the first low-cost low-power WCDMA direct-conversion transceiver IC in SiGe BiCMOS. He holds several patents in the area of RF Front-Ends, and has published many articles and given many talks in the area of RF systems design for cellular and millimeter-wave radio systems. He is a senior IEEE member and an IEEE distinguished microwave lecturer. He has been part of the IEEE RFIC conference technical program and steering committees since 2004; he was the general chair of the RFIC 2018 conference. Walid received his Masters and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
